Qianshan Lin
KidsScribe Program is a New York City school club founded by Qianshan Lin and co-founded by Joanna Qu that transforms young students into thoughtful authors. Our unique approach combines storytelling with real-world actions, guiding children to create their collection of meaningful books while exploring values like kindness, respect and filial piety.
Throughout the school year, our club members lead three collaborative sessions with school teachers, mentoring students as they craft stories inspired by their own experiences. Beyond our after-school book design workshops, we host engaging virtual events, including "Values in Action" challenges, where students perform three acts of kindness for someone they're grateful to and inspire those recipients to "pay it forward" by helping others in need, and "Community Heroes Journal" sessions, where students identify and write about local heroes who embody our core values, then create thank-you cards to show gratitude. These activities help students connect their storytelling with real-world impact and personal growth.
At KidsScribe, each story becomes more than words on paper—it reflects personal growth and understanding. As students build their book collections, they develop a deeper connection to the values that will guide them through life.

In the process of making my picture books, I have encountered several obstacles and problems when publishing them on KDP, such as figuring out the right trim size and managing the cover. As a result, I began posting on several social media platforms, which helped me to explain the challenges I've faced. Despite the fact that no one contacted me at first, they were really eager to assist me and kept in touch with me on the resolution of these issues. I was able to successfully publish my picture book on Amazon.com with Bookmark League's assistance. In addition to gently guiding me through the process of modifying the trim size, managing the margin and bleed of each page in detail using Canva, and teaching me how to use online tools to determine the book's thickness, they also supported me during my difficult moments. In conclusion, this experience has helped me grow personally while also allowing me to experience their professionalism, patience, and kindness.
